Types of Funds

Undesignated Funds
Undesignated funds enable the Foundation to respond to the ever changing needs of our community. They provide the maximum flexibility to meet future challenges. Through an open application process, the Board determines what charitable programs will be supported by the income earned on the fund.

Donor-Advised Funds
A donor sets up a named fund from which they recommend charitable disburesments to the Board.

Designated Funds
A donor may wish to name a specific charitable organization or organizations which are to be assisted by a gift. The Board ensures that the grants made from a designated fund are used as the donor intends in perpetuity.

Field-of-Interest Funds
These funds support broad fields, such as arts and culture, community development, health and human services, education or scholarships. The Board decides the specific organization or program that will receive support, while the donor chooses the field-of-interest for which their fund will be used.

Agency Funds
Tax-exempt organizations may set up a fund to benefit their exempt purpose.
