Donor Commitments & Fee-Structure

  • Donors

Donors may contribute to any fund of the Foundation at any time, in any amount. For individuals wishing to establish their own permanent or non-permanent fund to carry out personal charitable initiatives, the following fund types may be established:

  • Undesignated Funds are established from contributions received from donors with no granting guidelines. Charitable distributions from undesignated Funds are determined solely by the Board of Trustees and therefore provide the Foundation with maximum flexibility. The minimum amount to establish a named undesignated Fund is $5,000. Fee: 1.25%.
  • Field-of-Interest Funds are established by donors who specify a broad granting category in which grants will be made by the Board of Trustees, e.g., a geographic area, arts, human services, youth, etc. The minimum amount to establish a named Field-of-Interest Fund is $5,000. Fee: 1.25%.

    Field-of-Interest Funds may have an advisory committees that recommend the uses of the funds to the Board for their final approval. The minimum amount to establish a named Field-of-Interest Fund with an advisory committee is $10,000. Fee: Negotiable between 1.25% and 2% depending on circumstances.
  • Designated Funds are those in which the donor identifies one or more specific charities that he or she would like to receive funds in perpetuity. The minimum amount to establish a named Designated Fund is $10,000. Fee: 1%. (The Foundation recommends that a percentage of designated funds be undesignated or within a field-of-interest to ensure the ability to meet emerging needs for future generations.)
  • Donor-Advised Funds are those from which the donor makes recommendations for charitable disbursements to the Board of Trustees. The minimum amount to establish a named Donor-Advised Fund is $10,000. Fee: 1.25%.Non-Profit or Agency Funds are Designated Funds established by tax-exempt organizations to benefit their organization's exempt purpose. The minimum amount to establish an Agency Fund is $10,000. Fee: 1% sliding scale to .2%.
  • Community Initiatives are special projects or programs which are undertaken by the Foundation with approval of the Board of Trustees to address an unmet charitable need in the community. Fee: Negotiable, depending on circumstances.
  • The Community Service Fund is a non-permanent fund comprised of multiple donor contributions which have not yet been recommended or approved for distribution. Fee: Negotiable.


Note: The Fees for scholarship or non-permanent funds are negotiable up to 2%. Funds may be established in a donor's lifetime or through a will or trust agreement. Funds through gift annuities are also possible.
